How long have you been training at 3 Aces?
Pretty much since they opened, summer of 2015
What do you like most about 3 Aces?
I love how invested our coaches are, the knowledge they have about the sport and technique that they continue to pass on to us. This empowers me to make choices on which option to select each day and get the best workout every time. They truly care about each member and seem to know each of us pretty well. They pick up on our weakness and strengths so they can motivate and encourage us to get better.
And I love the community that 3 Aces established. It’s filled with incredible people that are kind, friendly and very supportive. 3 Aces has very much turned into my second home.
What motivates you?
I love playing with barbell so hitting a new PR in my lifts, mastering a new skill or simply smashing a WOD. That sense of achievement and happiness after each class, no matter how broken I might feel after it is extraordinary.
Also accountability to our community. The passion and support within the box as a whole help me to get there and motivates me every time I walk into the gym. We’ve got a great group of people and I feel privileged and very lucky to train with them.
Who is your biggest CrossFit inspiration or inspiration in general?
There are some incredible professional athletes out there that I admire but I must admit real inspiration comes from people from our box. Being surrounded by good energy and witnessing members getting that first double under, pull up, handstand or hitting personal best in their lifts really inspires me because I can relate to them and I know the work they put in to achieve that goal.
What goals are you working towards?
The biggest goal I’m still chasing after is that very first pull up
I would also like to finally hit 100+ squat club
And possibly do masters weightlifting meet, something I wanted to do for a while ……
What piece of advice would you give to someone starting on his or her fitness journey?
Don’t be intimidated by the other athletes around you, everyone was once a beginner. Ask questions, don’t be shy, embrace mistakes and failure, and give lots of high fives.
Tell us something that we might not know about you?
Hmmm I guess that I can get really nervous and anxious at times and CrossFit allowed me to push through those lines of comfort I built around me and help me evolve in so many ways! CrossFit can help you get in best shape physically but don’t underestimate other benefits that came with that.
